3 QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER BEFORE PURCHASING YOUR INDUSTRIAL CURTAIN / DIVIDER

Industrial curtains and dividers provide a multitude of benefits to our clients.

At their most basic level, our fabric products act as resources to divide large spaces into smaller, specialized areas. From a more advanced perspective, our industrial curtains provide insulation for doorways that are trafficked frequently.

Regardless of your reason for needing an industrial curtain or divider, you should consider these 3 questions before purchasing. They will save you from any headaches later.

In what ways will this divider be used (list all of them)?

Industrial curtains are used in many different industries. A few of these industries include the government (developing and storing military equipment), agricultural (large industrial barns holding equipment) and autobody (both companies that manufacture and repair the millions of cars on the market) industries. While these only represent a few examples of how industrial curtains and dividers are used, you can start to understand the vast uses that may be in play when considering this product. Thus, it’s important that you know all of the ways you’re going to use this divider before purchasing. One way to do this is to consider the following questions:

  • Is the divider only being used to maximize space potential?

  • Does temperature control matter with this divider?

  • Does the wall need thermal insulation?

  • Will the divider be permanent or movable? Is there space to retract?

  • Is there room to mount the fire sprinklers?

  • Will the divider obstruct anything or cause any safety concerns?

  • Have you consulted with your city and fire marshals to craft a plan?

  • Are you choosing the right flame retardant fabric?

With all of the uses in mind, what type of fabric should be used (hint: if you’re unsure, talk with a professional)?

The fabric you choose for your industrial divider is extremely important. Certain fabrics are great for visibility, others for portability, and even others for temperature control. But maybe even more important than the type of fabric, it’s important to consider the industry standards your industry requires; in certain cases, only specific types of fabric and design can be used. Thus, we recommend that you thoroughly understand what type of fabric should be used, and if you’re unsure, please contact our team for the appropriate recommendations.

What level of privacy is needed with this curtain or divider?

Privacy can mean multiple things. First, it might represent visual protection (maybe your industrial divider is keeping proprietary equipment hidden). Second, it might be designed to protect employees or customers from smell (maybe keeping fumes from a specific project from spreading throughout an entire warehouse). Finally, it might be used for protecting how you feel (maybe used to keep the temperature safe and consistent for employees or products being held within the space). Whatever your level of privacy is, it’s important that you understand it before purchasing an industrial product like a curtain or divider.

Our hope is that this list of  questions gets you thinking before you purchase something online haphazardly.
